Multicultural classrooms in Europe: Leading the way to a more inclusive teaching
What can I expect?
​
During a  90-minute online panel discussion, we will provide a platform for dialogue on diversity and inclusion in education and give insights on the SIDiT project’s vision.
Participants will learn more about the challenges that educational professionals face in today’s multicultural contexts, explore positive practices and pedagogical approaches for improving inclusion and participation of students, as well as get familiar with existing EU policies in the field of inclusive education.

Tita Kaisari-Ernst, Education Specialist, UNICEF GREECE COUNTRY OFFICE : Tita Kaisari-Ernst works as Education Specialist for the UNICEF office in Greece since 2018. Her work focuses on inclusive quality education for all children and especially the more vulnerable, including refugee and migrant children, Roma children and children with disabilities. Previous to this, she has more than ten years’ experience in citizenship and human rights education, six of them in underprivileged neighborhoods in Berlin, Germany. She has also worked as trainer in Pakistan, Lebanon and the West Bank.

Dr Rory Mc Daid, Lecturer in Sociology of Education, Director of Research / Coordinator of the Migrant Teacher Project, MARINO INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION : Dr Rory Mc Daid is the Director of Research in Marino Institute of Education, where he is also Lecturer in Sociology of Education. Since 2017, he has coordinated the Migrant Teacher Project which provides information, advice and training to migrant teachers, to help them to continue their profession in Ireland. Dr Mc Daid’s research contributions include work with refugee and asylum seeking children and young people in Ireland, racism and linguicism in schools and teacher diversity.

Michele Senici, Education Director, STILL I RISE NGO : Michele Senici is Education Director of Still I Rise, in charge of curriculum development, teacher coordination and educational training. He works to define, develop and implement educational projects in emergency contexts as well as to build long-term opportunities. He has seven years of experience in community-building, training and non-formal education projects. Over the years, he has created theatre workshops, educational programs for free time and academic support, as well as training projects on active citizenship and helping at-risk youth.

Vasiliki Katsomaliari, SIDiT Project Coordinator, GOETHE-INSTITUT ATHEN : Vasiliki Katsomaliari works as Erasmus+ Project Coordinator for the Goethe-Institut Athen. Prior to this, she has been working as a Project Manager in the civil society sector in Greece, with emphasis on the non-formal education and protection of children and youth.She has led the design and implementation of diverse emergency aid and integration programmes for vulnerable populations, including refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and has been supervising teams of teachers.
