What have we learned from SIDiT so far

MATERA, IT

On 19-21 September 2022, the SIDiT team met once again in person, this time in the historic city of Matera in Italy. Teachers and academics from Croatia, Italy, Belgium and Greece worked collaboratively and exchanged views on inclusive education.

During the meeting, partners and local participants were trained on the basic principles for intercultural education and their interpretation within the SIDiT methodology; they prepared practical lessons for inclusive education practices and learned how to educate children on the use of digital and entrepreneurial skills (social inclusivity). The teachers also shared their experiences from the implementation of the methodology and discussed the next steps of the project.

What have we learned so far?

o 80% of teachers and 79% of students would like to participate again in a SIDiT course

o The issues of gender and/or religion raised in a SIDiT classroom have positively affected the inclusivity and understanding among the students

o Students feel more comfortable to share their problems and feelings in a SIDiT classroom

o Children value the technological literacy offered within the project’s framework

Now that the training of SIDiT has come to an end, we reflect on the new tools and ideas we take with us, with the goal to scale up the project in more schools and institutions in Europe.
